I'm all lost in the supermarket, I can no longer shop happily

I came in here for that special offer, guaranteed personality

I wasn't born so much as I fell out, nobody seemed to notice me

We had a hedge back home in the suburbs over which I never could see

I heard the people who lived on the ceiling scream and fight most scarily

Hearing that noise was my first ever feeling, that's how it's been all around me

I'm all lost in the supermarket, I can no longer shop happily

I came in here for that special offer, a guaranteed personality

I'm all tuned in, I see all the programmes, I save coupons from packets of tea

I've got my giant hit discothèque album, I empty a bottle and I feel a bit free

The kids in the halls and the pipes in the walls make me noises for company

Long distance callers make long distance calls and the silence makes me lonely

I'm all lost in the supermarket, I can no longer shop happily

I came in here for the special offer, a guaranteed personality

And it's not here, it disappear

I'm all lost in the supermarket, I can no longer shop happily

I came in here for the special offer, guaranteed personality

I'm all lost in the supermarket, I can no longer shop happily

I came in here for the special offer, guaranteed personality

I'm all lost (I'm all lost in the supermarket)

I'm all lost (I can no longer shop happily)

I'm all lost (I came in here for that special offer, guaranteed personality)

I'm all lost (I'm all lost in the supermarket)

I'm all lost (I can no longer shop happily)

I'm all lost (I came in here for that special offer, guaranteed personality)

I'm all lost in the supermarket, I can no longer shop happily

I came in here for the special offer, guaranteed personality

I'm all lost, I'm all lost, I'm all lost

I'm all lost in the supermarket, I can no longer shop happily

I came in here for the special offer, guaranteed personality

"Lost In The Supermarket" was released a couple of weeks before Christmas 1979 on the Clash's monumental third album, London Calling. The album received unanimously positive reviews and was ranked at number eight on Rolling Stone's list of The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time in 2003.

I'll always associate this album as being one of the last great ones I bought in high school in the winter of 1979, and one of those albums that lives in the time between my high school graduation and starting college. By the time I started working in the record store that following summer, it was probably at the height of it's popularity. It was one of those few records that all the employees loved to listen to, even the country girl and the jazz guy wouldn't complain when someone put it on. (When Sandinista! was released the following winter, the anticipation with my co-workers and myself at the store was through the roof.....however, sad to say, none of us could ever really get into it as we had London Calling. At first everyone was playing it, but it just never gained any traction and eventually, in fairly short time, it was only very rarely heard in the store, although someone or other would still play London Calling now and again. I personally believe it was simply TOO sprawling, too massive and though it obviously contains some brilliant work, nothing really stuck like many of the tracks from London Calling)

I've wanted to video several tracks from London Calling, but didn't think about doing "Lost In The Supermarket" until I came across the time-lapse shopping cart footage and thought immediately......yeah, there's my first track from "London Calling". It's not much in the way of creative editing really....I spent very little time editing the footage, though I thought about taking the time to edit lots of bits of loops, speed variances, forwards/reverses, to match the tune (you'll see some of the editing where i actually started working this idea later in the video) but I couldn't get up the energy for that kind of time. Hope you enjoy what I was able to do though.

So I was thinking about this new Youtube, G+ thang....I realized that I could no longer shop happily 'cause they got me all lost in their f******supermarket! LOL! Thanking the wrong people for videos and commenting in the absolutely WRONG place that was intended. I'm sure it's only a matter of time until I thank myself for my video......kinda like Stig accidentally suing himself? Oh.....good times!

I am so going to be humming this at the store today, The panning and fader of the guitar sounded fantastic ,at 2.10. The down beat drum at 2.42 is spot on. Soft, loose and deep. More bandwidth Jon. We will get it. Broadband is where the growth is. Guaranteed
