Actually, this song is a metaphor about how Gareth was feeling about a long distance relationship he was in. If you actually listen to the lyrics properly, you'll hear that. The "deer die with their eyes wide open" part is about Gareth driving to this girl's house to break up with her, and he saw a deer on the side of the road, dead with it's eyes wide open. The previous night he had had a dream about deer. He has stated so in an interview. Also, you will treat LC! with respect. Thank you.
