NO COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT INTENDED - (Gallio 114) Out of Los Angeles, this beautifully Spectorian release written by Jerry Riopelle and Al Hazan is the last and most ellusive of the three singles issued by The Lornettes on the Gallio label. Released in April of 1966, although the session was arranged by the great Gene Page with a fantastic backing track by The 'Wrecking Crew', the disc never took off other than charting in a few southern California areas.

October 2012 - The Lornettes lead singer Lorna, who now goes by the name of Asha, remembers:

".....Thank you so much for your comments on the music, and records from long ago. I was 14 years old, there were 4 of us about that same age. We were going to Oxnard High School, and were allowed out of our classes to take the limo to Hollywood to record. Mr. John Gallio was our manager at the time. (thus Gallio records). Got to meet a lot of very important people too! The Page brothers.....Gene and Billy and also Barry White. (we did a lot of background work for him at Bronco records and later at 20th-Century ) and it led to a pretty interesting life in music. We did background work for The Ronettes working with Phil Spector. Performed in Reno Nevada for some 20 plus years with a group of family members called "Martha's Children". We are still performing, now as a Gospel group. We are called "Honestly", and will have some original music out very soon. I am a music teacher in Oregon. Passing on what I have learned to the children. Won't stop, can't stop!!"

Anthony R --  The B-side of this single is a Toni Wine song, one I haven't heard and I can't find. Could you please post 'Funny Little Heart' for us? -- TRS

Best of luck on your musical endeavors. I recorded in the distant past as well--what a coincidence! I'm Mary Jane. I put out a few (maybe more than enough!) 45s on some small labels. Someone did me the honor of putting up a little ditty I made under the able auspices of my mentor and producer, Edward Bocage. It's on the Power-Pak label and is entitled, "I've Got What You Need, Part One". Please be so kind as to give it a listen here on YouTube. Best Wishes, M. J. Hooper.

Nowadays when a woman sings about sex, she flat-out (and often crudely) comes right out and says so. I love, though, how back in the '60s they had to use code words and phrases if they had any hope of getting on the radio. I think we all know what the "something" referred to here is! Another fave is the oft-deployed one in which the girl offers to give "all her charms" or "all her love" to her beloved. "Will You Love Me Tomorrow," anyone? Another fantastic spin, Anthony; thanks!
