The reason for the Hebrew writing is that Michael Landon was born Eugene Maurice Orowitz a Jewish convert to Christianity.

this song has become part of my own personal Christmas rituals over the years. i grew up watching the show from the beginning, and loved Lorne Green. his fatherly ways, his gentlemanly ways of treating others and passing it along to his sons. i dont know why people diss this show/album...to me, its a recording of a 'family', and no one would not expect everyone to be the Trapp Family Singers! ^_^
