Of all of the versions I've heard, this is the only version that properly frames the context of the song. One of tragic loss and grief. Most people leave out the verse:..."People were saying,No two e'er were wed.But one has a sorrow,That never was said:...This song is a lament - not a joyous song. This is the way Gaels grieve.Thanks for posting it as you did. Thanks also to Loreena McKennitt for properly framing the song in a manner that maintains its context.
