Frank Williams Sings (June 25, 1947-March 22, 1993) Release Date: June 22, 1993

There is just so much to say about a man whose legacy will withstand the test of time. A man whose love for the Lord needs no other description except for his life's work. Franklin Delano Williams was such a man. He was a man of kindness, compassion, depth, wisdom, direction, spirituality and love.

The road down gospel music stardom started for Frank at the young age of five. He was born and raised in the small town of Smithdale, Mississippi. Who would have ever thought that young Frank Williams would grow up to become one of gospel music's most renowned artists, producers, and promotion executives.

Frank's career as an artist included the following groups: The Southern Gospel Singers, The Williams Brothers, and The Jackson Southernaires. Frank was a member of the first two groups during the late '50s and the early '60s. He and his brother Huey united with The Jackson Southernaires in 1964. At that time the group was signed with Duke/Peacock Records. Their first recording Too Late became one of the company's biggest sellers. From 1972-1975, the group was signed to the ABC/Dunhill label where their two albums, Look Around and Save My Child were both charted nationally. Since the group desired to be closer to home, they signed with Malaco Records of Jackson, Mississippi. With this merging, a pivotal point in the lives of both Frank and The Southernaires was reached.

The Southernaires became the standard bearer for Malaco Gospel music with the release of their album Down Home. Other albums followed that propelled their career into the main spotlight. The group soon went on to receive a Grammy nomination for Teddy Bear (1979), nominations from the Stellar Awards and The Gospel Music Workshop of America as Traditional Male Group of The Year (1985-1986), the GMWA Traditional Male Group of The Year (1987-1989), and a Stellar Award for the same category (1989).

In 1979, Frank became the Executive Producer and Director of Gospel Promotion at Malaco Records and remained there until his homegoing. One of his accolades was the forming of the Mississippi Mass Choir in 1988. Five weeks after the release of their first album, Billboard Magazine certified it as the Number One Spiritual Album in the country. The choir has gone on to collect most every major award possible.

Notwithstanding every major accomplishment, Frank considered his acceptance of Jesus Christ as the highlight of his life. According to Frank, "Nothing else is even in the Top-Forty".
