@SuperSnk1 . I hope you can understand now that these Calypsos were about fictional characters and in no way related to their real life experiences. Check Dr. Sparrow's reply to Melo in " Madam Dracula" in which he sang that every body calls Melo's wife that. AND, in another " Cowboy Melo" he sang that Melo was the father of a Calf ( Baby Cow) for the face was " Melo in Print ". They were crowd pullers and pleased their audiences who always looked forward to these battles in Kaiso.

@marledebakkerunicorn . Do not believe that these battles in Kaiso were full of hate and violence. Not one bit of that. It was simply Melo and Birdie"s way of inciting interest in the artform which in turn brought financial gains through record sales, increased attendances at Calypso shows, foreign Tours Etc. They were very close pals and it remained that way . Remember one aspect of Trini life style is giving" fatigue" to each other, we like that sort of fun just pounding each other . Thanks.
