Cool. There's some dope West Coast artists, though. Ugly Duckling were pretty dope, proper two-turntables-and-a-mic type shit...and obviously the artists you mentioned. Cube's first two albums are total CLASSICS. But I admit I don't check for a lot of West Coast stuff... Also NO-ONE rapped in suits and ties back then (except maybe for Puffy but he isn't a MC, if you ask me!). All the best to you man

I know this isn't VERY old school... but in this day and age it's considered old school... 13 years ago... around the time the Gangsta Rap scene was still really popular in the West Coast... it started with N.W.A. and then continued on even til the early 2000's with Xzibit, Mack 10, Ice Cube, W.C. and all them... I was just saying it's good to see people from the West Coast making the kinda Golden age sound... I hate West Coast Rap... I support the true Golden age NY Hip-Hop

...(cont) vital, virile and being rediscovered by new generations! Just kind of irritates me a bit when kids try and tell me stuff that they weren't even around for first time around.....no disrespect intended. BLESS

Er yeah I know, not to get all "cred war" on you but I'm 34 been heavy into hip-hop culture since I was 11 years old. Bought the classic Golden Era shit when those records came out and experienced the development of rap IN REAL TIME. Not as youtube videos 14 years later. I may not be a septic but I know my shit. Not blowing my own trumpet or anything! And I'm not knocking ANYONE who gets into the classics through watching old videos on here, it's great that the classics are still alive (cont)

it came out in 1999... people in the West Coast were still stuck in that Gangsta Rap scene at the time

honestly these dudes are dope as fuck.... and here is why.... they are from California and this is some old school California shyt... back when every one else in Cali was rapping about Guns, Sex, and Drugs... these dudes were keeping it real and not hopping on that Gangsta Rap train... this is just some straight up lyrical shyt... they are rapping about SKILLS... none of that fancy shyt... just skills... some of the only people I like outta California... like some KRS-One type shyt

These dudes need a fuckin re union. what happen to these guys? "You used to get busy atd open mics, Yo i still do, i kill crews lyrically, spiritually yo i will do" that was fuckin awesome! way ahead of their time especially with Madlib on production.
