If you are able to get past the whole cultural, racial, and even national in some cases stigma attributed to the art form, you can see that well written music is a language which can speak to anyone in any walk of life.

Country, R&B...whatever you wanna call it--this is great music regardless! I remember when the Commodores did this song and I was still in High School--I loved 'em then and still do and never get tired of hearing these old songs Lionel did back then as well as what he did as a solo act throughout the '80s...honestly I think it's pretty awesome that so many youth are now tuning into what really good music was all about when their parents used to be teens and maybe I'm just getting' old but I think it's great that so much of the old stuff is coming back as remakes -70's&80's-and that kids are now taking an interest into what REAL music used to sound like from great artists like Lionel himself and with The Commodores--those guys had real talent and the same with many great 70's/80's bands like Journey, Hall&Oates, Kool and the Gang and many others from back when music was GREAT and to be honest, it never really died!....sure some "new" music today is good but anybody seriously into music cannot dismiss the fact that the era represented here with this song was one of the greatest era's ever for music and continuing on into the 80's and music today is just not what it used to be! You have the right to agree or disagree with my opinion but it still won't change my opinion and I have a VERY diverse palette when it comes to music meaning I generally like it all--IF it's good; regardless of who it comes from these days....but I consider this particular example shown here to be very good! :)
