I was originally planning on doing all the Reanimation songs in one big bunch, but I figured since they played this one on Live in Texas I might as well do it now. Db Ab Db Gb Bb Eb tuning, Mike's part is really simple. For most of the first half of the song he just hits one powerchord at the start of every 4th bar. During the first chorus, he doubles Brad's palm-muted line an octave higher, and then goes back to one chord for the second verse. His chords in the 2nd and 3rd choruses are the same chords from the Hybrid Theory version of the song, except he hits each chord once instead of strumming them. The bridge is also nearly identical.

I played to the Live in Texas version of this just because I think it sounds better, the palm-muted guitar parts are really buried in the mix on Reanimation. The Reanimation version is played essentially the same way.

@kenhv74 It's in E flat minor. I know Brad plays a major third over the Eb5 chord when he does the octaves in the last chorus, but that's just something he does a lot with songs that are in minor keys, he does the same thing in Crawling and Somewhere I Belong. Since most of LP's rhythm guitar parts are powerchords with no third in them, both the major and minor third will work over the root note a lot of the time, regardless of whether the song is in a major or minor key.

What key is the song in? While I was playing it, I noticed some unique chord progressions and scales being used lol.

Will you be posting tabs for both parts?

I wouldn't imagine it would be an x79. At least not on the Texas version.

2nd fret on the 4th string, or at least that's what I think he does. Sometimes it sounds like he's doing an x79 powerchord there but from what I can see on live videos, his hand is a lot lower on the neck than that.

Are the powerchords 2nd Fret on the three Thickest strings?

astatslpvids

That's the gauge of strings, there's a lot of different ones, but if you go to a music store and ask for a set of 10s when you're buying strings, they'll know what you're talking about.

ok thx and what those numbers "10s" mean?

Depends what kind of strings are on the guitar. If they're the ones that came with the guitar, they might be a set of 9s (string gauge), which are really flimsy for anything other than standard tuning. Next time you restring your guitar, ask for a set of 10s.
