Sean Halley from Line 6 gives an in-depth overview of the Helix multi-effects processor. Helix uses Line 6's most advanced amp, effects and cabinet modeling to date. Line 6 actually modeled the behavior of every analog component found in classic effects and amps, a six-year project that has resulted in amazingly detailed tones.

Yeah, cool, thanks, fancy thing, bright colors, cool. But when will these units start to not sound digital? In a few decades, maybe, when we will have alien quantum computer processors, maybe. For now, I always hear Sony shining through. Always. ALWAYS! Where is that "realism", am I drunk? I even miss realism in the Axe FX (which some regard as heaven sent). This is all pure digital sound to my ears, no realism at all, no brightness, depth, width, sparkle, cream, no living sound. It´s so dead. I´d be the first to install that stuff instead of carrying heavy analog units. Why do I do that? Because I prefer to destroy my spine, instead of carrying realism in a light box? Am I stupid? I do not think so. My, my...! Anyway, no hard feelings, just my humble, experienced ear. Maybe old and in the meanwhile deaf ear. Regards.

Does that tone sound somewhat muddy to anyone else? Specifically when he chords, you don't necessarily notice it during the lead sections.

I really hope this thing is good. My POD HD500X isn't cutting it for me, and I can't bring myself pay so much for an Axe FX.

Thanks for this informative video. Is the touch sensitivity level of the foot switches adjustable?

Cool but the tone he used was a little harsh to my ears. I would like to hear more of the patches. When they go thru all the features and don't cover what it sounds like as much i loose interest.

Funny how Line 6 has been touting the promise of delivering genuine tube amp tones for 19 years, and here is yet another declaration. I owned the original Flextone amplifier plus a POD XT, and have tried almost everything since. Yes, the tones have improved somewhat all along, but digital modeling is not the real deal and never will be -- especially not Line 6. For the price of a Helix, one could buy a fabulous real tube amp (or two). Go smoke another one, Line 6.

It drives me nuts when companies dive into features BEFORE they make you hear what the unit sounds like. To me sound comes first and features second. Can we hear the patches please?

Seeing as Sean was one of the guys behind Avid Eleven Rack, I'm seriously interested about this.

Dual processing is not that "revolutionary", Sean. Fractal has been doing it for a bit and so has Roland in their VG 99. It IS nice to see Line 6 finally get to it, tho. Hopefully these chips are future proofed so they don't gimp out after a few software upgrades. The Helix does look interesting and the interface is very clever.

I've owned darn near every amp modeling software/hardware and many of the pedals on this unit but the expensive boutique or hand-made clones. I am very excited about this product. The price is by more than fair. This isn't a $499 type unit. I believe the POD HD is still an excellent product but it fits a different price market. Great job guys!

Sean Halley has single handedly made me part with my hard earned cash on Line 6 products and continues to do so again! When's it out?

Hard to tell exactly from a quick demo, but the amp sounds do seem quite a bit better than the POD HD 500X (which I have). Of course, the real test will be to check out the Helix in person and find out how it really sounds and feels. While the POD does a good job modeling amps, it doesn't quite capture the feel and tone of the real thing. Love the screen and user interface! Also, good job giving the tap and mode buttons more room...finally, compared to the HD500X.
