"takes a swipe at miley". i don't see that. talk about reading something into a song that really isn't there. it's fuse that is taking a swipe at miley and blaming lily for it. wrong, wrong, wrong, i'm glad i unsubbed.

Am i the only one who can see that every one of those women's skin tone is different? Also- if there were all white dancers- people would still be screaming "racist" for having no black dancers. The point was not to "rule over" anyone, but rather show that the male director is trying to make it overly sexualised with homoeroticism. Look at the irony: an obviously sexist song like Blurred lines, gets praised and gets awards: but lily allen speaks out about sexism, and she gets bashed for racism, which shows they obviously ignored the message.

how stupid for criticising it for having mainly black dancers- if it was mainly white dancers no one would think twice

I don't think having mostly black dancers is racist at all. It's another symbol of pop culture and society. Along with the general over sexualizing of women in the media, there has been specifically the over sexualizing of black women (Miley Cyrus's VMAS dancers for example)

@sajere12 she already responded saying if she could, she would have been naked. there also was a white female who as well was naked like the other female dancer. She even said she was dressed because she is not comfortable with her body

The problem with only black women twerking is not inherently the idea that they weren't chosen for their abilities; it's that they were sexualized and dehumanized for it, whereas Allen herself is dressed in a suit in a position of power over them. Satire is a very delicate genre, and though it may not have been her intention, her video was absolutely racist and she should apologize.

Lily is not blaming women for how they're portrayed. She's blaming our patriachal and sexist culture for making women be like this.

I know twerking has been in the news mainly because of that dimwit Miley. But if you're going to talk about women's issues surely they're better ways of doing it rather than focus on a part that is mainly found in one culture,i can see why someone might call it racist,if you don't then you're probably ignorant !

She is hoping to get the same attention miley did after the whole twerking scandal at that award show! pure publicity stunt, the song sucks!

The fact that people think this has anything to do with race, and completely miss the point of the song AND video, is exactly what's wrong with society now. Do you all think Lily Allen specifically asked for 4 black dancers to be in her video? Honestly, how idiotic. And personally I don't see this as a jab at Miley at all

Hm. I'd say I agree with her about a 70%. What Thicke's doing is just /wrong/, but here, she's not shaming /him/ for oversexualizing women, she's shaming women who dance and party, calling them pretty much brainless ("I don't need to shake my ass 'cause I've got a brain", right between shots of the other girls twerking and partying). I think the problem is not making girls 'wilder' or more reserved and 'smart'. It's finding the balance between the two in the media, and not shaming anyone if they choose to party this friday night or stay home studying. We can't give ourselves an ultimatum and try to choose between the two, y'know
