i did not even notice the pyramids. i was too focused on the kids dressed as polish ghetto children circa 1941. but i agree now that i see the pyramids i get the confusion. but the lyrics and the way the kids are dressed give away the true meaning of the song. the only way it could have been more blunt is if the kids where bald and wearing pinstriped uniforms.

well if you listen to the lyrics you will notice its a holocaust song. give me a number instead of my name. they are talking about the tatoos the jews recieved in the death camps

The song comes from an Andrew Lloyd Webber show called "Joseph and his amazing technicolour dreamcoat", based on the Bible story in Genesis. at this point in the show Joseph had just been thrown into prison, hence "close every door to me"

It's a song about abuse of freedom and imprisonment, I will still have god on my side. Learned this song when learning the piano. This is the best version I have heard

@fashionfreaks2011 The song is from a story/play called "Joseph and the amazing coloured dreamcoat". It was done in the first act and it's when Joseph is in jail for a crime he didn't commit. Just search "Close every door to me wiki" and it should be first up
