Levon Helm was one of, if not the main source of what made the popular musician/rock group, "The Band" so successful. His candor in his music, his standard setting drumming, and singing with a twang that had a charm, Levon Helm was destined for greater fame after the band broke up in 1976.

From his first solo album, "Levon Helm & the RCO All-Stars" comes the song "Blues so Bad" which shows Levon in top form here. Harmonica swaying and drifting in and out of a song that wallows in bittersweet thematics. Horns and Levon on the drums join in, and the beat drives the song on. It's addicting and potent. A poignant folksie blues ballad if you will, there are no blues when you listen to this one!

I think it's a great album. I don't know why people dismiss it. The RCO All Stars couldn't be beat, and with Levon at the Helm (pun intended!) this one was a winner! This is my favorite track. But I also love "Sing! Sing! Sing!" and "Havana Moon." I'll try to have those up shortly! Thanks for stopping by! HM
