Yeah that "muting" your hearing is a little thing people call noise gate which usually comes through a pedal that can be used for live tracking and also used on stage. Of course John Feldman is gonna use some compression on the instruments only a fool wouldn't, but that doesn't mean he uses as many plug ins as most bands do. He even said himself they tried to make this album as raw as possible with out using midi or snap grids or programmed instruments.

Obviously you don't either. The amount of compressors on every instrument in this song, not to mention that the muting on the guitars doesnt travel so the muting is done in post... There is nothing "raw" about this... not saying it sounds bad, just don't talk about shit you know nothing about.

Yeah definitely saw em live at warped your and he sounded exactly the same as the album. But keep assuming you know, a lot of people can't even tell the difference between an edited track and a double track. The phasing that you think is "robotic" is just the sound of the tracks meshing together
