I played this song at my sons wake over and over again. He passed away and left behind a 1 and a 1/2 year old little girl after being t-boned by a drunk driver and died on contact. Anyway, when we used to drive anywhere and this song would come on the radio I would turn it up really loud and tell him he needed to listen to the words of this song really well and to always remember to pass on what was being said in the song and pass it on to his daughter Makayden because children today are unfortunately being forced to grow up too soon due to the ways in which society was changing for them. My own children had to grow up to early because of my mistakes/divorce and I will never ever be able to let that go. I can never go back and just "Let them be little" and I have to live with that the rest of my life. Love this song!

i did not got to be little. i was abuse as a child my grendmother abuse me i was sexually abused my 3 mans. i was 5 to 9. iam 34 years old i cry to this day. my birth parents did not raised me as a child my grendmother get custody of me at 3 year old my abuse start it. now i iam try to cope with my abuse. this song keep me happy and ok.

F Y I     Billy wrote this song for his child. Billy is very very tall so when he sing's "you fit in the palm of my hand" He truly meant it. LOL  Lone Star sing's this beautiful song too. My kid's are both grown too heck they were literally 1/2 my height well my youngest was 21 & 1/2 inches long  7lbs 13 oz  now alost 2 ft  Mom here 4ft 10in  98lbs day of birth to my son  oh now he's 6/3 but to bone's only weighs 170 but eats like crazy LOL Mom here well shhh I shrunk down to 4/ 9/2  90lbs  LOL My oldest a girl was 19&1/2 inches  6lb 6oz  mom here 104lbs ay o birth to my daughter  yes really on both LOL   she's now 5/10 built great model type  her eldest is 6ft only 16yrs old  her baby girl 3yrs old is up to my belly button  so they don't stay little long LOL
