The one thing the Beatles had over the stones (and over everyone else) was whimsy but style. Paul McCartney was genius at that but also John Lennon was genius at giving them some sort of meaning so they were not just throw away songs they were masterpieces. You don't believe me just listen to him now and just listen to the utter crap he has become.
