Respect for the songwriting, but my god ... I would not have known how beautiful this song is without hearing GM's cover. His cover is exquisite. You can feel the depth of love, anxiety, resignation and acceptance of what must be. And his video is a black and white work of art, capturing the beauty and hope of youth. Someone here commented that GM ruined the song. I'm truly baffled. In any case, taste is subjective but respect shouldn't​ be.
