This polyrhythmic exercise will get your foot working and will definitely develop speed. Doesn't sound too bad either, have fun with it around the whole kit.

Thanks.. In my later years (I'm 55) I've ditched the big kit (Peart , Portnoy..etc) 2 Bass Drum approach and come "home" to 1 up, 2 down, Ian Paice and John Bonham approach. All you ever need ...... You videos are extremely helpful. Where as I got by and faked when I had too, your videos really break things down to the workable compenents. Thanks Man !!!

I use both Promark 5A and 5AX. Sometimes the 5B for a little extra volume.

I might be wrong, but I'm pretty sure the snare drum is playing dotted quarter notes, and the kick is just the two eighth notes in between.

Just try the pattern on the kit and you brain will immediately feel it :) But seriously, the polyrhythm is between the hihat and the snare, so listen carefully (and try not hearing the bass drum). Also, polyrhythms kind of loose their feel when sped up.

Dear sir, I might be wrong, but i cannot find the feel of polyrhythmic, seems to me all straight 8th notes between hi-hat, snare and bass....not the same feeling like when playing 3 over 2 for example.
