For the life of me, I can't imagine why this song was ever released without the horns.

Listen to these guys first 3 records. They deserve every bit of success they get. But fuck the guy Vinnie in the band for starting the Fueled By Ramen label and launching so many shitty emo bands. i.e. Paramore,Fallout Boy,Academy Is,etc

Maybe this song wasn't your pop hit because you hid from half your band in the music video. You hid away the horn section of your ska band you cowards. You deserve to fail when you try to succeed despite yourself (<- sounds like Less Than Jake lyrics)I take it back if you got screwed post production though. Not uncommon that record execs strip away the true sound for their borderline moronic take on how the public responds.

Listen to the album version or a live version. There are horn riffs in the chorus that were taken out for the radio single/video. "The Science of Selling Yourself Short" music video also omits the sax solo in the bridge for whatever reason. There are still horns in the bridge, but they are subtle. Remember this was in 2003, years after third wave ska's popularity in the mainstream died and bands started switching to a punk or rock sound. The horns were toned down or left out completely. Even Reel Big Fish did this in 2002 with their hornless single "Where Have You Been?". It's what happened when the bands signed to a major label and ska wasn't cool anymore, so they changed their sound to fit current tastes.

I remember this video from aaaages ago, about in 2003 when I was 7 or 8. I saw it on one of those music channels like Scuzz (if it existed that time), I was thinking wtf is this cos it didn't seem like the usual punk songs, and the lyrics "she's gonna break soon" seemed a bit too tacky. Anyway this video looks a bit different now, I haven't seen it since like 11 years ago. I can totally related to this song by the way, even though I'm a boy. And that's Rory from Gilmore Girls? Wow.
