They had a long history together, Chet's brother played with Les at one time so their friendship goes back a very long way. Two of the best, maybe THE two best ever.

I think it`s quite different - they Keep inspiring each other. There are so many examples that many musicians can`t give their best when they do not Play with congenial fellow-musicians, which is surely not the case here.

It must have been hard for these two to play back up for the other one. Two giants playing at the same time---like 2 people driving a race car at same time. Glad they did it though!!

Nice of that bald bloke to let Chet rest his guitar on his head.

@TheDragonfly45 It was on the 'Chester and Lester' album, complete with some mildly risque repartee. I also have it on CD, paired with their second album 'Guitar Monsters'

Chet was the corporate face of Gretsch Guitars for many years, one reason why George Harrison played the Atkins-inspired Tennessean and Country Gentleman models, most notably during the early Beatlemania period of 1964-65. But Chet opted out of endorsing them in the late 70s, when their quality began to decline due to new ownership. Ironically, soon after his LP with Les Paul came out, he became a designer of guitars for Gibson, just as Les Paul had been doing since the early 50s.
