No, i'm pretty sure that was German. I'm 100% sure it wasn't Hebrew.

I saw him on Broadway in Les Mis 1988..Gary will always e Jean Valjean..until Alfie..he brought out the same emotion in me!

Yeah, I realize I might be a bit biased but Gary Morris has the best raw-when you get down to it-voice. Doesn't embellish the basic tone and acoustics of the original piece. I'll speak for the men on this section. He is simply the best.

He wasn't singing in English in the very beginning of the video was he? If he was, it's no English I've ever heard.

The absolute best. No one else sings this as well as Gary Morris.

Man, I'll still take Gary Morris over Colm or Alfie any day of the week. This recording is so alive, you'd swear he was living it as he performs it. Fantastic.

There have been so many talented singers that have played Jean Valjean, but to me Gary Morris is the voice of Jean Valjean.

It was amazing getting to meat him. My high school performed Les Miserables this year, and Gary happened to be in town and my director managed to get a hold of him to do a workshop with us. He is extremely talented and knows exactly what he's talking about. Thanks to him, our show was top notch :) Definitely one of my favorite Valjean's!

@BTLemming Gary also had the 1st hit recording (as a country artist) of "Wind Beneath My Wings", 7 years before Bette Midler's version. I've always loved his voice, & agree that he is wonderful here!

DId not know he was a "country and western" singer. He certainly doesn't sound like one. The only other time I've heard him sing apart from this show was on the film soundtrack album to a Bruce Willis movie called "Blind Date". It wasn't country music there, either.

I think Gary's performance here was absolutely outstanding! Love the emotion, the vibrato, the tenderness . . . . his high notes flow effortlessly & his feeling for the role seems so understated & genuine. Thanks for posting this ! ! !
