Author and unknown character moreover, this Martenot sent this explosive and anarchist song in the newspaper "L'Insurgé" (The Insurgent) who did not dare to publish it...

This song refers to the wave of anarchist assassination attempts launched by Ravachol (François Koenigstein of its true name) from March, 1892.

These not very bloody assassination attempts inspired terror which allowed to the government to adopt "villainous" said laws. Ravachol was stopped on March 30th, 1892 and carried out on the next June 11th.

Two other anarchists will be carried out: Augustus Vaillant, on February 5th, 1894 and Émile Henry, on the next April 21st.

This wave of anarchist assassination attempts in France will come to an end with the assassination of the president Sadi Carnot by Jeronimo "Sante" Caserio on June 24th, 1894 in Lyons.

On the other hand, in the song, the allusion to the Spanish Vallas, "fusillé pour son allure" (shot for its pace) is less clear...
