Leonard Cohen has performed many versions of "So Long, Marianne." The 1993 Oslo concert rendition includes not only a radically different arrangement but also two verses not found on any album. The impact is dramatic. More information about this and other variations of "So Long, Marianne" at http://Cohencentric.com/?p=18108

The only moment that you can live here comfortably in these absolutely irreconcilable conflicts is in this moment when you embrace it all and you say "Look, I don’t understand a fucking thing at all – Hallelujah!” ~Leonard Cohen

The version I would love to hear - and tried my best to track down when I was doing research for 'I'm Your Man: The Life of Leonard Cohen' and found about its existence - was an early version called 'Come On Marianne'. Leonard told me he disliked the idea of releasing outtakes as bonus tracks on reissued albums, or even on a separate rarities box set. I know what he means about bonus tracks - they do spoil the original work, being tacked on the end like that - but I would be first in line for an outtakes box. Oh and welcome back. Allan!

This version is overwhelming ...Perhaps the whole world knew this from the moment the song came out but I only discovered this evening that there is a real life Marianne, the blonde woman in the images; how incredibly poignant ...

Actually the last two verses were in the songbook, released in the 70's.

This is neat thanks for posting this, I'm sure I remember hearing both the verses only the first verse is sun instead of boat, I think they are in one of his books a lot of his songs have different lyrics/verses in his poetry. Really cool version thank you for sharing this.
