Leo Kottke (born September 11, 1945, Athens, Georgia) is an acoustic guitarist. He is known for a fingerpicking style that draws on influences from blues, jazz, and folk music, and for syncopated, polyphonic melodies. He overcame a series of personal obstacles, including partial loss of hearing and a nearly career-ending bout with tendon damage in his right hand to emerge as a widely recognized master of his instrument. He currently resides in the Minneapolis area with his family. Focusing primarily on instrumental composition and playing, Kottke also sings sporadically, in an unconventional yet expressive baritone famously self-described as sounding like "geese farts on a muggy day". In concert, Kottke intersperses humorous and often bizarre monologues with vocal and instrumental selections from throughout his career, played solo on his signature 6- and 12-string guitars.Leo Kottke~Medley~"Crow River Waltz"/"Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring"

I played Crow river Waltz at my mother's funeral on the 12 string ala Leo - it was my mother's favorite song that I learned to play. It was from this medley that I learned to play it.

Sublime. Glorious. There aren't enough superlatives in the language to give this performance its' proper due.

Hi. I heard this song on Leo's anthology. I never picked up a guitar but had alwas loved this song. Today, I write and play acoustic guitar. I never learned Jesus'>>>> But I write some very simple jaw dropping tunes for a 53 year old guy that heard this when I was 16 years old
