It's taken me years to appreciate this album as much as it deserves. I can't compare it to Solace since it sounds so different, but then again, when have Tor, Ole, or John Robert ever done anything even remotely similar twice? The combination of these guys with other people have created 2 Lengsel albums, a Mantric album, a couple Ganglion demos, and 3 of the 4 Extol albums (yes, not all of them were on all 3). Everyone of the above albums is unique. That's why these guys rock.

I like both Solace and The Kiss, The Hope. Very different albums but masterpieces each one in its genre. I really love The Kiss, The Hope despite its high experimental level =)

@ chuckmaty "I love both, for completely different reasons" Yeah, I probably do too. It's just sad that I'm letting go of metal music in my older age. I may never give this album the chance it deserves. I still will love EXTOL though.

Start out with Benea Reach like I did. The first song I really heard was Pandemonium. YOUTUBE Search for "Benea Reach Pandemonium" and listen to the song. It seems like your typical death metal song, but the sound of it really moved me at the chorus. Then search for "Benea Reach New Waters" and hear that song. It's from their newer album. Those two songs sold me!

If you enjoy LENGSEL, be absolute sure to hear the Extol dude's side-project BENEA REACH! Those albums are on iTunes. Their first album is very dark, but their follow-up album Aleviat is a lot more detailed and technical.

This song is nothing like anything else on this album. I was actually a little letdown. This LENGSEL cd was nothing like the first. It was way too freaking experimental.
