Great rendition from one of the best musicals! Just to correct some posts though Nancy Kwan was the actress in the original movie but BJ Baker was the singing voice in the movie. She never got credit for it though. Lea is amazing and it is nice to see her tour with Il Divo.

Part of this song and rendition is also heard during the opening number of the 56th Tony Awards. I guess that should be ok and acceptable right? since it was the Tony awards.....if you listen to the Broadway Revival album, its pretty good and comparable to the original album. Since this is a concert, the decision to make this song more upbeat and forceful is a good move. I'm assuming that most of the people watching are not familiar with the musical and the songs related to show so you want them to at least be able sway or tap their feet and enjoy the number.

Ianoubaj...I think you should not comment on something that you do not know...You think Ms. Lea Salonga didn't know what she's saying, singing or doing? FYI she was the one playing the lead role for the musical Flower Drum Song where that song was taken and to top of that she is very intelligent and perfectionist and do you think she would miss that? The character of the role she's portraying was a stripper and a player, how do you think that would sounds like?...Ohhh!! you all knowing about dynamics...come on...And if your saying that you dont like it...she wasn't singing it for you anyway...and for sure you haven't paid for her shows...

Disagree. The character is a stripper and a bit of a player. She's no innocent... so I actually liked Lea adding some attitude. Always thought Nancy Kwan's version, though great, didn't quite capture the character. Yes, she enjoyed being girl but there was more to her than that. Great song sung wonderfully by both singers.

I've loved this song and the movie since I saw it as a little kid at my grandma's around 1965. Nancy Kwan was gorgeous as hell in the movie and sang the song great and might have been my first crush. This is the first time I've seen Lea sing it and I have to say I like it even more. Obviously she's a better singer than Kwan and she added a little "sass" to her voice. The character in the movie is not a sweet innocent. She's a stripper and a player... so a little added attitude ain't a bad thing.

I do not like her rendition of this song. This song is about being a girl...not some crazed, loud, bossy lady. It should be light (not hard like how it's here), flirty and gently seductive (too much shouting and forceful singing). Lea has a lovely voice, but she falters on her interpretation of the song by singing with the wrong dynamics.
