Lyrics:

I'll never hear the bells if you leave me

I'll never hear the bells

I'll never hear the bells if you leave me

I'll never hear the bells

Do you hear what I hear

When your lips are kissing mine

Can you hear the bells darling

Can you hear them when I'm kissing you

What do I have to do to make you feel the tingling too

Can you hear the bells darling

Can you hear them when I'm kissing you

Oh yeah

Oh, I hear the bells, ringing in my ear

Oh, saying do you love me, do you love me, do you love me, do you love me like I love you

Oh, there's one thing that I want you to remember

If you ever leave me I believe I'll go insane

And I'll never hear the bells again

No, I'll never hear the bells again

No, I'll never hear the bells again

I discovered Laura Nyro in my junior year of high school,1969. An African-American teenager growing up in the projects.I came to Laura Nyro through the Fifth Dimension which was acceptable listening in projects because they were black.Ms.Nyro came out with" New York Tenderberry." I was hooked.I took the record to school and played for my white friends. They were also hooked. When I played it for my black friends and family that said what the hell is that. I followed Ms Nyro.throughout her career and also got a chance to see her perform "Ooh Child". Forever Laura Nyro. The true meaning of soul.

At 2:02, the female body can be the most aesthetically pleasing things of all. And that scene seems to be indicative of the great anal sex. Just beautiful... makes me want to masturbate!!

Laura Nyro's music got me through many dark hours in my late teens and early twenties. Of course they brought sunshine too. And still do. She was with me through my thirties, forties, fifties and now into my 60's. A source of pure magic and divine intervention. I wish I could have seen her perform. Precious, timeless and perfect. Thanks for posting.

Well, EP I can think of two teenagers who listened to Laura Nyro back then and there must have been more of us because Carnegie Hall and the Fillmore certainly sold out every time she performed. The dozen times I heard Laura while I was in my late teens-early twenties I certainly don't remember an audience filled with old Jazz fans and Gay men. Sure it wasn't a stadium sized audience but it was what it was. Sweetheart (as Laura would say),you do have a snarky edge in your comments.

What's called raillery? Who are to posting to? What are you talking about? How are you defining raillery? Why haven't you listened to "Emmie" yet?

Yeah. But WHEN were you 16? At the time or later (which was my point)? Also, if you "gotta love her" you gotta learn how to spell her name. It's only fair to her.

It's called "raillery". It means that I love this song amazingly, though I couch it in terms of an insult. And I do love this duet.
