Larry Norman - I Wish We'd All Been Ready ~ Track 5

From the Album "White Blossoms From Black Roots" ~ 1989 ~ (Solid Rock Records)

----------------------------------------------------------------

While there are numerous collections available already, if there's one Christian artist who is overdue a definitive "best of" then it's Larry Norman. This latest reissue from Solid Rock makes a valiant effort to redress that omission. 'White Blossoms From Black Roots' has a checkered history; originally set to hit the streets in 1987 it first saw light of day 10 years later (albeit with subtly changed track-listing). A further decade on we Brits get to join in the fun. The 13 tracks seem perfectly chosen - a mixture of classics from Norman's pivotal 1970s output, previously unreleased tracks and alternative mixes. Expected songs from the " Trilogy" albums are all present and correct - "I Wish We'd All Been Ready", "Why Don't You Look Into Jesus", "Why Should the Devil Have All the Good Music" and "The Outlaw" - plus a couple from the unfairly under-regarded 'Something New Under The Son'. One of these, the charming party piece "The Sun Begins To Rain", features jazzy piano from actor/comedian Dudley Moore. So often "best of" CDs can be padded out with filler material but not here. While fans may argue over tracks which have been excluded each song earns its place - be it the rockabilly of "The Man From Galilee" or the White-Album-psych-rock of "Looking For The Footprints". The same applies to the bonus tracks, including some of Norman's work with the late lamented producer/singer Mark Heard. Taken on its own terms, and without comparison to the other collections available, this album forms a handy cut-out-and-keep account of the cream of Norman's output. Here's hoping it also serves to bring this CCM icon to the attention of a whole new generation of Christian musicians and music fans.

Here's the thing: getting to KNOW Jesus entails more than just believing in Him. Even Satan and ALL His minions believe in Him, know the Bible, yes they do, and tremble at His Name. So how can WE, as a church be better? YOU HAVE TO FORGET THE DOCTRINES OF MAN! Like, "The Holy Spirit doesn't manifest like He did when the apostles were alive." What a bunch of hogwash! God is the SAME, yesterday, today, and tomorrow. You NEED to be asking Jesus to FILL YOU COMPLETELY full of the "oil" of HIS HOLY SPIRIT. He wants intimacy with you! How do you do that? By praying in the Spirit. His Word says we MUST worship Him in Spirit and in TRUTH. Ephesians 6 outlines the spiritual armor of GOD, for us to protect and fight against the spiritual enemy. The last piece of armor is "pray IN THE SPIRIT AT ALL TIMES FOR ALL THE SAINTS." Look it up. I could go on and on. There are so many scriptures that make it clear that to be different from the world, we MUST be filled with the Holy Spirit. Then you, too, can pray in such a way that nobody, including Satan, cannot understand. I speak of the evidence of being filled, praying in tongues. Then after you know you are filled, "earnestly desire the other gifts," as Paul teaches. $

It is a nice song that has captured the minds of the church. Before World War I I though the rapture was allegedly going to occur after the tribulation and then suddenly there was a major doctrinal shift. Kind of strange.

This song is so awesome because it straight up speaks the truth. No sugar coating it or nothing. Straight up. Either get left behind and go through tribulation, or just give it all to Jesus and let him save you. True ministering, especially considering when this song was released (1969 I think)

And I looked, and behold, a white horse! And its rider had a bow, and a crown was given to him, and he came out conquering, and to conquer.(Revelation 6:2 ESV) And out came another horse, bright red. Its rider was permitted to take peace from the earth, so that people should slay one another, and he was given a great sword.(Revelation 6:4 ESV) When he opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature say, “Come!” And I looked, and behold, a black horse! And its rider had a pair of scales in his hand. And I heard what seemed to be a voice in the midst of the four living creatures, saying, “A quart of wheat for a denarius, and three quarts of barley for a denarius, and do not harm the oil and wine!”(Revelation 6:5-6 ESV)And I looked, and behold, a pale horse! And its rider's name was Death, and Hades followed him. And they were given authority over a fourth of the earth, to kill with sword and with famine and with pestilence and by wild beasts of the earth.(Revelation 6:8 ESV)Larry Norman - I Wish We'd All Been Ready - [Lyrics]

God is a reality. This is a surprise to many. Christians should be proud of who they are and today I defend Christians whenever I get the chance. Christians should study the law to become more extraordinary Christians.
