I saw him play this at the Blue Note in NYC. Before the song he asked the audience how many guitar players were in the audience....most raised their hands. He then said that they could appreciate the difference in styles of BB King & Albert King. He played several solo licks of each (to the delight of all). Then he said this song was a tribute to the two Kings. He goes back & forth between each style throughout the song.....see if you can tell which is which.

Larry 'does' Albert King at the start, then some BB - Sweet! This is the bluesy band that had no problem playing EC's first Crossroads festival in Texas. This is why.

I saw Larry and the Sapphire blues band at a free concert in Winter park, Florida, in 2004, at the WLOQ-Radio station sponsored outdoor concert. It was great, as to be expected. Afterwards, Larry signed autographs for the whole audience! I did'nt have anything to write on, so he signed the back of my jersey,,, with me in it! LOL! I keep it in my closet,, wonderful guy Larry is!!

So nice to hear Larry play some blues on the funky side. I just put some of my soul blues videos on the site. Ck it out.

I dig this. and yes, larry calrton can play damn fast. He and robben wouldn't be 1st call sessionists if they lacked technical facility. The CHOOSE to play slow. Speed isn't everything, it's how the lick serves the song.

Truly one of the finest guitarists on the planet, who can play just about anything well. The most humbling moment of my musical life was when at a seminar, Larry told me the solo to "Kid Charlemagne" was improvised on the spot.
