Yeah, too bad Anglagard are try-hards without the compositional chops to pull off their grand instrumental pretension; they fall into the typical trap of over-ambitous and under-able prog bands who fancy themselves classical composers, forsaking the values and appeal of good rock music while failing to achieve the standards of Bartok (for example), leaving the best tunes to the prog bands who continue to embrace some of the transparency and relative simplicity of rock music.

Typical Swedish Prog: Monotonous, droning, dark, depressing minor key noise. The only exception is Anglagard, which is mountains above these guys (they still have melodies and major chords occassionally).

@yeshead No kidding. They were the reason I flew from Texas. Fantastic show, but their (and Solaris') show were the best.

The triumvirat of swedish bands that ruled the revival of 70's influenced prog containing Landberk,Anekdoten and Anglagard is totally amazing!!!I don't know why but I have been listening to Morte macabre's Symphonic Holocaust a lot these days.
