I recently got into just researching about all types of music from banda to grupero to rap. Then I found out about Tejano music and now I have lots of tejano artists in my itunes collection. It started with selena, i know most of her hits were not the regular tejano style but they had more of a cumbia flavor. I do enjoy some of her older songs such as dulce amor. I just really like the many different sounds that the cumbia adds in the songs of the early kumbia kngs material or jennifer pena orla mafia from the 90s. I do like the tejano music from the 80s more than the 90s because I feel like the songs during that time had more brass instruments being used like this song. from what i can tell some musicians in the 90s moved to putting more percussion instruments in the songs and using more synthesizer. We also have the tex mex music that included some type of electric guitar like fotos y recuerdos or if you have ever listened to the chris perez band some of their songs have a selena type flavor plus kumbia kings and an added electric guitar of course because chris perez is a very good guitar player.

@dickdiggler2 True dig...but there were so few not even worth counting though...and no one ended up dead and you're right...it was fist to fist. Then again I was too eff'd up to notice if anyone did get in a fight....our goal was to party, have fun, go home and suffer the hangover the next day lol.

@simplydeliteful10 Well there were fights but going fist to fist was the way things were solved.
