Former Slobberbone frontman Brent Best joined afternoon host Joe Kozera on Thursday, December 17, and played the song "Robert Cole." Slobberbone, who broke up in 2005, was probably best known for their landmark 2000 album "Everything You Thought Was Right Was Wrong Today." Shortly after breaking that band up, Best formed The Drams, who released their debut record "Jubilee Dive" in 2006 on New West Records.

A great song, from one of the best songwriters ever. Brent is a musical genius. Many songs have Dylan like lyrics (Find the out, etc.). One of my favorites. And a great guy to boot. I met him going to shows, and have had lengthy conversations with him. I live in Louisiana, but am lucky enough to have seen a well over a dozen slobberbone shows, many in Austin.

The song is based on a short story by Larry Brown. Apparently, Brent knew him quiet well....
