Kurt did not write this song; it sounds nothing like anything else he wrote, particularly in this period. The lyrics--the selection of words--match songs Courtney wrote before and after the performance of this song: "ether," "forever," "kill me pills" etc. What is noteworthy is the lack of a chorus, because the whole "Made my bed, I'll lie in it/die/cry" lyric was written by Kristen Pfaff. The music itself was written by Courtney & Eric Erlandson: notice the chord progresssions G-D-F-C; then G-A-B-D-F-C (I think...doing this by ear). All open chords, except B. Kurt barre chorded everything. Courtney, by her own admission, isn't a great guitar player, and so almost always wrote with open chords. The exception is the B chord, which is the one barre chord that turns up throughout HOLE's song catalog.

I love the versions of Hole's songs where Kurt plays in them. The guitars are watery and the voices are a bit inaudible and it's awesome. It's like together they're music is even more pure and beautiful.
