Too bad one line was omitted because it was considered too crude. The small kid cussin' at a can that he was kickin' was supposed to lead straight into "and it took me back to somethin' that I'd lost..." The line, the nearest I can remember was, "And my tongue was like the bottom of some filthy stinkin' ashtray I'd been lickin'," leading into "but I lit my first and watched a small kid..."

Best version of "Sunday Morning"-- including the incomparable Willie N. Actually, KK sings this song better on earlier occasions. Hard living has caught up with this boy.

It is said that this is the first song Kris wrote. He gave it to Johnny Cash. Is that what ya'll heard to be true?

Kris Kristofferson was a Rhodes Scholar. Which means he was some sort of genius. He could have gone on to become the Prez.of the U.S of A. but he chose the hard struggle to make his name in music.Good choice.

A little background on Kris Kristofferson who I have followed since the 1960s. He was a Rhodes Scholar and an Army officer, a helicopter pilot. One of his first attempts at song writing was a song about an officer on his way to Vietnam who encountered war protesters and saw them as a dirty group of undesirables. Later he resigned his commission and became anti-Vietnam War. I also served in Vietnam and while there learned what a farce it was and that is one of the reasons that I have loved his music so much.
