Don't get me wrong, I think JD is an awesome lead vocalist. His style definitely shot him to the frontline, made whiteboy dreads popular, bagpipes in metal acceptable, and Puma a shit load of money. Haha.Chino has a very developed and crafted voice. His deliverance in every composition is fucking amazing. He adjusts his tones and notes to mesh with melodies and riffs giving light to a new era of alternative rock subgenres like rap core, shoegazing or nu gaze if you will, that weren't able to really break full force into mainstream commercial music for decades until Deftones were accepted as such. I'm not a hater by any means, I've studied music for my entire life. Bands like (hed)pe, Limp Bizlit, and POD wouldn't have ever been commercially successful if the path hadn't been paved beforehand by bands like Korn and Deftones. All bullshit aside, vocal ability and talent wise, hands down, Chino takes it home.
