In this video i am running an arpegio in Ableton Live on a MIDI track and feeding the MS-20 audio back into Ableton with a Filter Delay on the audio. The Brute is running through a TC Flashback in Modulated Delay setting. Some of the audio was recored in Live the rest of it is just off the Mic on the camera (so not great quality) These two synths sound great together

I think it's a Little like comparimg apples and oranges,The MS-20 has very much charakter, everything sounds so nice on it!The Minibrute does not have so much, Charakter, but the possibilities for all the Sound modulations on it makes it very unique! think on Brute factor Oscilator wave mixing, and much more!

On one video I've seen comparing the MS20 mini and Minibrute, the background noise from the MS20 mini was pretty bad, like it had white noise on all the time, a hissing sound whenever a note was played. The Minibrute sounded very clean with no background noise at all. Is that how you would describe your units? They both soynd great anyway...

Well...when I was in a band, my main sound came from a roland SH09 backed by a Roland JX3P...Total analogue heaven...but then the digital era came upon us and to be fair it made things a lot easier, the richness of samples on workstations and if im honest in my genre of music (ambient) it made things a lot easier...less live programming and as much as I love the re-birth of analogue I think these 2 synths are kind of toyish...especially the keyboard on the ms20 mini...checked it out in Liverpool and it reminded me of the casio mini keyboards of the 80's (only in build I mean)....if you have the time to play with the sounds available, then good luck...if your playing with it and your not signed up, then it is a toy...a very expensive toy but there you go...at the moment my money is made with workstations and software and if I get time I will buy one of these analogue beasties and play...nuff said

If i had to choose between the MB and the MS 20 mini, i'd probably stick with the MS 20 mini, because my minibrute hasn't been exactly reliable. After just one year, the EG died and i had to send it in for repairs. Despite the four weeks in the repair shop it still acts up from time to time. The Korg has worked without a hitch so far, and having had a lot of korg products in recent years I don't expect it to give me trouble in the foreseable future.

To my ears the MS-20 sounds fatter and the filter sounds better. I'd be happy with either one as well as the Bass Station II, but both the Minibrute and MicroBrute can sound a bit harsh on some of the demos I've seen.

depends on how "experienced" you are with analog synths ... you have to spend more time and know what you are doing to get the most out of the MS-20 - the Brute is more immediate and with its Arpegiator/aftertouch/midi out etc is more functional.. As a synth I think the MS-20 is more powerful and definitely more quirky... sounds like you should go for the Brute first

not at all - the sound very different - having two filters and two oscillators on the MS-20 makes it a very different beast. go to a store and try it ... it may completely confuse and confound you.. but then that for me was a challenge !!
