I don't really like U2, but this cover KMFDM did of Mysterious Ways is totally sweet IMO. Taken from the KMFDM Agogo album.

He was sick when he recorded the vocals for this , prolly one of the better tracks they covered ..

Wow... I've been a kmfdm fan most of my life. I can't bring myself to enjoy this cover though. Definitely one of their weakest attempts.

In this case, the title is very accurate. This cover by KMFDM is way better than the original by U2.#flashbackfriday

Saw these guys in '95 at Masquerade in Tampa on the in Your FACE tour, then again for XTORT at JJ Whispers in Orlando. Good, good stuff. (IYF was the better show).I miss En Esch and Gunter Schulz. :(

I noticed a couple of you don't know who kmfdm are, but have a love of u2....how ironic...in german(where the band is from) kmfdm is an abbreviation for no pity for the masses...they have no pity for you, and neither do i.

The Edge is a fan - said he was heavily into KMFDM when working on Achtung Baby. KMFDM got the ok from U2 management to use it

Good guess but sorry to burst yours... If you release a recording of a song there's nothing you can do to stop someone from covering it as long as they perform it as a cover and don't substantially change it (new arrangements, different language, etc.). In this case they must pay 'mechanical royalties. You CAN stop them from using elements of your recording (samples). And using it in a commercial or for your radio show is a different type of royalty altogether...

Not exactly the same song done exactly the same way... The original is much better. Similar guitar without the Edge's control mastery over 'playing the delay' and the vocal work lacks the depth and soul that Bono has... And the drums, well don't even get me started... And the chorus with the chicks just sort of sounds creepy.

How can it be better when it's exactly the same song done exactly the same way-- arrangement and everything? BTW, EVERYBODY ON THE FRIKKIN' PLANET KNOWS WHO U2 IS FOR A REASON. Meanwhile, absolutely NO ONE knows who the hell KFMRDFRM is.

You can definitely tell En Esch had a cold the day they recorded this one. :)

It's Monday. Have an *awesome* music cover.#KMFDM #IU2*(My voice is actually not that far from this right now.)*

@ObliqueStrategy sorry to burst your bubble, an artist can refuse to let another artist cover his/her work; it happens all the time. "Paying royalties" is for using the work as is, i.e. in a movie, etc. and does not apply to remaking the original work. Nice story though! But that's all it is.

Lucia has the most beautiful voice I've ever heard.... P.S. Long live U2 and KMFDM!!! Two of my all-time favorites. :)
