Seriously, who cares about the whole first wave, second wave, third wave thing? Does it even really matter? AT ALL? This is beautiful and talented music. Influences shouldn't matter because this is unique in it's own right. Take it for what it is, stop arguing about who came before them. Klabautamann is their own sound and they have released three amazingly beautiful albums with said sound.

@theghostofroddyframe Sorry, who of the first wave got murdered or commited suicide? As far as I know, that was all second wave, mostly Norwegian.

@theghostofroddyframe Lol I agree with you first generation black metal had to much hatred or jealousy behind the music! Never thought about it till now, but I am glad it is processing through my veins currently. It sucks though that youtube arguments go no where but a clueless "huh"

@lightfox17 venom started the first wave of black metal, but sure the music isn't black metal, more like heavy/speed it was their evil sound that made them so different from other NWOBHM bands and influenced more black sounding bands like Hellhammer and Sodom. Venom is like proto-black metal.

@barallor I agree but that doesn't make them Black Metal. Don't get me wrong I love Venom, and their legacy is sometheing outstanding in music history specially for extreme metal music, but they weren't Black Metal

@Varder110 I'm not saying it doesn't sound like modern black metal, I'm saying that Venom only contributed with the name and the sound but they weren't a Black Metal band. Venom gave the name and sound influence such as other bands from that time, Bathory defined that sound and Mayhem consolidated the esthetics and ideology.
