'The Queen Of Country Music' Kitty Wells sings 'Making Believe' at the Grand Ole Opry in 1955. This song has been a #2 hit on Billboards country chart for Kitty and was written by Jimmy Work.

Lyric:

Making believe that you still love me

It's leaving me alone and so blue

But I'll always dream still I'll never own you

Making believe it's all I can do

Can't hold you close when you're not with me

You're somebody's love you'll never be mine

Making believe I'll spend my lifetime

Loving you making believe

[ fiddle ]

Making believe that I never lost you

But my happy hours I find are so few

My plans for the future will never come true

Making believe what else can I do

Can't hold you close when you're not with me

You're somebody's love you'll never be mine

Making believe I'll spend my lifetime

Loving you making believe.

Love the song, but does anyone else notice that she might have a black eye on her left eye? If so, I hope the arsehole that did it to her got it worse...

Beautiful. Kitty Wells was my dad's favorite. My mom hated her. I'm with my dad. I saw Kitty Wells along with Johnny and Jack about 1960 in Cleveland, Ohio, at a theater that has long since been torn down (It was by the zoo.). The only thing I remember (I was 8.) is "Ashes of Love" by Johnny and Jack. I suppose I must have heard "It Wasn't God Who Made Honky Tonk Angels". Rock

Kitty was a member of the Lord's church, the church of Christ (Matt. 16:18). Go home to your Savior, my sister!

Kitty Wells was my mother's favorite singer. I grew up listening to her songs over and over. For years it was so hard to find any evidence of the songs I knew I remembered. She was a "forgotten soul" for a time. Thanks to Youtube, she's here with us again. Thanks for the video!
