Nope, when Peter became a band member they still were "Wicked Lester" Peter said in interviews that they used to play the songs from the never released Wicked Lester album but when Paul came up with "Strutter" Peter felt "Yeah, this is going to work" So the three of them rehearsed for a couple of months to get them tight as a band before deciding they should need a new name, so Peter went "Let's name the band FUCK!" and everybody went Naah and Paul went "Let's name the band kiss."

Impersonators are people who are introduced as being the real thing, Tommy and Eric are never introduced as " Ace Frehley" and " Peter Criss" Also when Eric Carr and Vinnie Vincent were still in the band, the fans went "Hang on, this doesn't look right, where are the faces I know?" Gene and Paul founded Kiss, Ace and Peter Joined after Kiss was already formed. you're taking to someone that has been a fan since Kiss's first album. I've met Gene, Paul, Ace and Peter many times. and that is what they've told me every-time I've met them. so as long as Gene and Paul is in Kiss, then It will always be Kiss. but I do think they should give Eric and Tommy their won make-up.
