Ace Frehley's guitar was such an integral part of their sound. His guitar playing is as much KISS as Paul's raps on stage or Gene's breathing fire. He may not be as technical as some, but he cannot be replaced or imitated. He plays echonomically, and his solos are melodic. He moves great on stage. He is a genuine rock star. You can't help but watch him. Tommy Thayer may be a nice guy, who plays by the rules and makes no waves, but they need Ace to sound right and look right on stage...not an imitation. I have been a fan since 1976. My first KISS record was ALIVE, and I was hooked. To see half the original band in make-up saddens me. They are half a cover band, imo. The new, young fans don't care. They should. I think Paul and Gene should have taken the make-up off again and just continued where they left off before the reunion, but they would not have made as much money or filled as many venues. Money talks. It's not like they need it. They should have had more self respect and really retired after the "Farewell" Tour.
