Kirsty is one of the greats, from that wonderful period in the late seventies when there was both great style and real substance. Love this version of the song, AND the quality of Kirsty's voice on the recording. I am more familiar with Kirsty's work from the mid - eighties, when her voice was sooo melifluous and perfect. There is a slightly rough quality here that gives me chills.

What a great voice! I could listen to her sing the users manual for my video recorder and I would be in heaven.

Still get a tear every time I hear her voice. I can't help but feel the world would be a better place if she was still among us.

Kirsty wrote this song when she was only sixteen years old what a talent and what a great loss to this world.

This is certainly the superior version. Kirsty was such an amazingly talented artist and it's so sad that she is no longer with us and it's a disgrace the way the circumstances were covered up. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a h-anam dílis. May she rest in peace.

Really lovely.Just found out of this orignal today. Both versions are equally great, with Ulman's being more playful and this being more sad.

Great.

Love both versions. Lydia Loveless covers it on her 2014 album Somewhere Else (Best album of the decade by the way). Doesn't match Kirsty or Tracy, but still great.

Tracy version was essentially the same, although her animated video was very charming and interesting. It was a well done cover.

This is a great song! I recently watched a documentary of Kirsty's life (here on Youtube) and she helped Tracey Ullman to do her version on Tracey's show. I love both!

This is another one of those peculiar songs that when I hear it, I remember it as being quite fast although when you listen to it, it's actually quite slow. ABBA's Dancing Queen is the other example that Springs to mind. Ah, Kirsty - you are missed.
