I remember reading this song is about John and Michelle Phillips (Mamas & The Papas). The principal character is John with the woman referenced in the song being Michelle. The song is about the parties they used to hold at their home in the LA canyons in the sixties and how they would inevitably degenerate into these drug addled orgies. The song apparently describes the degeneration of John & Michelle's relationship and John's descent into harder drugs in the seventies.
