Excellent single that should have been a massive hit.

I believe it was the failure of this record to reach the top five in Britain that was the final straw with Graham Nash, compelling him to leave the Hollies and the UK and travel to America to form Crosby Stills and Nash. It only reached something like number 17 or number 19, which was lower than a lot of their records and much lower than this track deserved. For my taste, Graham's harmonies with Allan Clarke were absolute perfection, augmented to four part harmonies from time to time by further contributions from Tony and others. They still made great records afterwards, and tried to replace his distinctive voice, but they never sounded quite the same to me without Graham Nash.

Great song. MTV is today's King Midas-in-reverse. Everything MTV touches turns to shit.

I can see what you mean with the beatles, and they knew each other, but memory tells me that this was released before all you need is love in 1967, though the beatles may have written that earlier in 67 before its release in the late summer.

They were truly one of the all-time great bands. I like this song, "Long Dark Road," and "Carrie Anne" the best of all of their songs.
