Oh look the Nirvana/Killing Joke argument in the comments of this video. And look there is a dead horse over there lets go beat it.

They're really not that similar. That great stereo chorus sound is something that Curt definitely LEARNED from Killing Joke, but were I Killing Joke I would be flattered that somebody liked my shit enough to be influenced by it.

Not Crazy

You think Kurt was not aware of Killing Joke?

Not Crazy

That’s because Killing Joke is a British band. If they had been Americans they would have sued in a heartbeat. In America everybody looks for an angle. “Can I use this person?” If not, you are of no use to them. Everybody in America is a soulless whore.

Mad respect for "killing joke" not suing kurt over it. Music isn't the same as it use to be

Who the fuck cares. I highly doubt Kurt stole the riff from them. I make up riffs all the time that just happen to be song I've heard before. He's dead now, and both songs are great.

geordie's riffs cant be beat, song was great slamming music when first came out

Life goes on and Eighties are two completely different songs with the beginning riff almost sounding the same. Damn you people are such babies.

i suppose nirvana time traveled to the 80s and made the riff first.

Yeah but have you heard 'Life Goes On' by The Damned? 1982. I think you'll find they both ripped that song off. Dont get me wrong, I love KJ but I think they ripped that song off.

I don't see why people say that Nirvana copied the riff, sure it's similar, but it's different in so many ways, Nirvana put their own feeling into it.

"life goes on" by the damned, killing joke stole this riff from them P.S Nirvana makes Killing Joke seem like a garage band made up of eight-year old kids.

influences are just that influences this song may have a riff that could be argued resembles a famous song by nirvana but in the end we all influence one another to some degree both songs are great and yet completely different because we as people will always put our own spin on a past influence. This should be celebrated and enjoyed not the cause of negativity, music will always be about the writers creativity regardless of where they received their inspiration
