Some of the comments below are sad/lame. Hendrix, SRV, KWS all great artists doing what they love. Just enjoy the music or spin the dial (AKA click the mouse). Nobody is making you listen. Do yourself a favor and move on...

in my opinion, KWS and Mayer "ripps" too much from the greatest... Not inspiral.. COPY/PASTE STYLE!

Hold on hold on!!!! We keep forgetting... He was fifteen in 93... So even if he wrote it when he was fifteen, Pearl Jam still beat him to the punch.

If you can't tell the difference between this and Voughan, If you can't tell the difference between this and Gossard, keep listening and you'll get it. The same way I can't tell you how to feel music is the way these guys play what they're feeling and when you get tuned into that let me tell ya, you're gonna love the blues.

The chords to "While We Cry" are E-B-A. Yellow Ledbetter has the same chord structure. So do about 5,000 other songs. It's a standard I-V-IV chord progression that's been used by hundreds of other artists. Nobody is ripping anybody else off. Just relax and appreciate a good song.

@southernchild72 I saw him at circle center mall way back when he was 15 or 16 and I was blown away! i was right at the stage and after me and my friend (a guitarist) talked with him and his dad for an hour or so then he waited while I went to the car and got my friends fender strat and kenny signed it for him! My friend is still playing it today! I said why dont u put it away and he said that it wouldnt mean anything if he couldnt play it! prolly worth some money now!

@sillyjak Yellow Ledbetter was recorded in 1991. Ledbetter Heights in 1995. How exactly do you figure KWS had ANYTHING to do with Yellow Ledbetter? Except for stealing Mike McCready's work? And KWS would have only been 14 in 1991 too. I really don't think Pearl Jam was stealing guitar licks from a 14 year old boy back then.

@gre1990 Ledbetter Heights refers to a neighborhood in his home town in Louisiana, Shreveport I believe.

@Jay7un kenny wayne shepherd wrote the instrumental on ledbetter heights album, on while we cry live he even says he wrote it! give it a listen...pearl jam wrote some lyrics to it and called it yellow ledbetter,to say "thanks to kenny for an awesome instrumental"!

kenny can play anything and make it his own ! He has his own gifted style! If this song pisses u off your more than likely some bitter artist that has not been discovered for a reason. music is all about the love of emotion and expressing it through ur words or ur instrument. concentrate on that!!! then, then u will find ur inspiration and direction of your soul. peace

This isn't an attempt at Yellow Ledbetter or anything. It's an original song. It's a take off of Little Wing which is a take off of Red House which is a take off of Muddy Waters which in itself is a take off of Bach. So this tune has been around for about 350 years. To say that he ripped this off is like saying that Procol Harum (A whiter shade of pale) ripped off Bach. Get over yourself's people and enjoy the damn song.
