I don't think his intention was to sound like Ne-yo nor would I think he would like people saying one persons version is better then the other. Most artists may redo a song simply because the like the song or artist as well as wish to put their on flavor on a song. As fans do you want to hear your favorite artist redo a song exactly as the original? I'm thinking no.
