The thing is you can't capture this elaborate style trough chord charts. The alternate bass pattern, the hammer ons and pull offs, bends etc. All of that is seen perfectly in this particular video. And my point still stands, if you can't identify these chords visually right a way, you're not familiar with the blues chord progressions, no matter how many years of guitar you´ve got. You should familiarize yourself with the basic forms of blues before attempting this very intricate song.

Until we have Faces

Just because you can't figure out the chords just by looking at them doesn't mean you shouldn't play them. I'm classically trained and I've been playing 13 years, and I'd still appreciate a chord chart here.

Listening to Kelly Joe makes me homesick for a place I've never been.

Good tune!!

Standard. This is a blues in G. 2:23 onward watch him play with the G7 chord, it should be obvious that this is standard tuning.

Seriously? This is so well filmed, it's easier just to look at his fingerings than to tell you what the chords are. I'm sorry to say, but if you can't tell the chords by looking at them, you aren't ready to play this style. You should start by simpler 12 bar blues or 8 bar blues before venturing into this.

Brilliant...the best blues players also have vocals to die for and tell a story. I saw KJP at Wycombe Town Hall in BUcks, UK about 10 years ago. He dragged to acoustics on stage looking very tired, tuned one up and burst into 'Katy'...the place was silent and my jaw hit the floor. Awesome night.

Glad to see him back, looking forward to his concerts in Holland and his new record. Seems he continues where he left off.

KJP was awesome in his opening show (Salt Lake City) in support of his latest album. Sat no more than 20 feet away in a picturesque back yard setting. Was so close I could hear him tapping his foot to the rythym. Perfect way to listen to KJP weave his stories through his voice and guitar. Just an awesome performer! Kelly Joe, thanks for coming to SLC.

Will see KJP kick off his "Brother Sinner and the Whale" tour this Friday at a house concert in Salt Lake City. My first KJP concert. The intimate setting should make this a special occasion. I can't wait!
