"I hope you Dance!"This is a song I have played over the years, during good times and especially during bad times for my little girl. She use to watch you on American Idol and sing along with you dreaming of growing up to be a singer like you. Her first stage show in vegas(she was7) she sang one of your first songs you released(Break Away) she loved everything about you, you were and are one of her idols! This year she suffered a brain injury that has resulted in her losing five years of her memories (retrograde amnesia) she has had to trust in strangers (us) friends, family, teachers and so many who love her. The stage though is still her safe place and tonight on her 16th birthday I played your version of "I hope you Dance!" Her many times glazed over eyes lit up as she talked about you and the song, she recalled in front of so many faces how she danced and sang along with you, she was able to relive a moment in time that has not been taken from her, I played this song on the Golden Gate Bridge, untill she fell asleep on the wall (at 3 am)facing San Fran and I will play this song every time we revisit special places that are now new to her. Music has been the window to her very being and sole.she listened to this song before taking the stage to sing a month after her fall. She has had a hard road, and this song is truely her anthem, you are one of heros. Every day she works hard to re-learn how to play music, write and even read music, she has to have blind faith in so many and yes their are the days she wants to quite, but music and performing has been her fighting chance to still have a sense of wonder!
